Advertorial
The Cornish tech sector is thriving. One example of its world leading credentials is the most advanced humanoid robot on the planet, Ameca, created by Falmouth-based, Engineered Arts.
This expansion is fuelling an increasing local demand for digital skills. The Digital Futures project, led by Truro and Penwith College and part-funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, brings together ten training providers to harness that growth by developing a pipeline for talent.
The culmination of this and part of the Cornwall Festival of Tech, is a very special event on February 18 at Truro College – Ameca: A Robot’s Journey to Creation. While Ameca has travelled and appeared on TV programmes globally, this is the very first chance for the public to interact with it in Cornwall.
With talks, coding workshops, masterclasses in interactive VR and digital tools, the event encourages everyone to get hands-on and explore the tech behind robotics from mechanics and electronics to software and AI. Those keen to start or advance their tech career, can get advice on career and learning pathways from Digital Peninsula Network, Headforwards, TECwomen, Tech Cornwall, Truro and Penwith College, and the University of Exeter.
There are also family friendly activities (for ages seven plus) to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation.
