The inaugural TEDxNewquay event is set to take place later this month at Newquay Community Orchard.

The theme event, on November 26, is renewal and will feature inspiring talks from five speakers, discussing topics ranging from tackling renewable energy to organ donation.

The guest line-up includes menstrual health pioneer, author and activist, Kate Shepherd Cohen; Peter Lefort, who works for the University of Exeter creating connections between environmental research and climate action on the ground; NHS Nurse, Rebecca Tolmon; founder and director of Minviro, Rob Pell; and spoken word poet, short story author, wild walker, Sam Crosby.

The TEDx event will see speakers take to the stage throughout the evening before sharing a menu created by Canteen at the Orchard. The audience will then have the opportunity to sit side by side with speakers and discuss the themes raised during the night.

Event manager, Jen Andrews, said: “We’re really excited to bring this event to Newquay. With places like Newquay Orchard, the Space Hub and the innovative changemakers now remote working from our seaside town there’s a wealth of information and ideas to explore. TEDxNewquay hopes to provide an evening to do just that.

“The theme of renewal can be interpreted in so many ways and I’m looking forward to seeing how our speakers translate it.

“This is going to be a wonderfully intimate celebrate of fresh beginnings and we can’t wait.”
