A successful Cornish business support programme for start-ups has been extended to meet growing demand.

The move will see a series of out-of-hours workshops take place on evenings and weekends as an extension of the Breakthrough programme, which has already helped more than 100 entrepreneurs in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly this year.

The extended workshop programme, which is delivered in partnership by business growth specialists Oxford Innovation and Unlocking Potential and fully-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, kicks off with evening sessions on Thursday, November 3 at Cornwall College, Camborne, running every consecutive Thursday night for four weeks from 6pm to 9pm.

The weekend sessions will run for two consecutive Saturdays, from November 26 to December 3 from 9am to 4:30pm (venue TBC). Further weeknight and weekend sessions will be delivered in early 2017 alongside the regular weekday Breakthrough workshops.

“The Breakthrough workshops have been a fantastic success this year and are the starting point of a programme of support delivered by some brilliant and highly experienced business mentors,” said Allyson Glover from the Breakthough programme.

“We recognise however that a lot of people who are interested in exploring their business ideas can often be too busy to attend weekday workshops. We’ve launched the out-of-hours workshops to help them do this.”

All Breakthrough workshops are open to people with eligible start-up businesses that have been trading for fewer than 12 months – or even if they’re still in the planning stages.

Whether people are looking to launch a micro or lifestyle business or have an idea for a dynamic, innovative high-growth company, Breakthrough offers something for everyone and the potential for ongoing support following the workshops.
