Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that Lord Robin Teverson will give the key note speech at next week’s (May 13) event, at the Eden Project.

Before becoming Cornwall and Plymouth’s MEP in the second half of the 1990s, Lord Teverson spent some 20 years in the freight industry rising from management trainee to senior board director.

He studied economics at Exeter University and was a corporate economist for a short period.

After working in Brussels and Strasbourg, he took on a third career in business finance and today is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

Lord Teverson is a member of the House of Lords where he speaks for the Liberal Democrats on energy and climate change; over the last year he has chaired the House’s Select Committee on the Arctic.

In his presentation, he will talk about the great opportunities that Cornwall has for the future outside of the traditional areas that look back to the Duchy’s past.

Entry to Cornwall Business Fair is free and delegates can pre-register at www.cornwallbusinessfair.co.uk or register on arrival.
