Software Cornwall will again be hosting a two-week training programme this summer for coding enthusiasts and graduates looking to improve their skills in the software development field.

Software Cornwall first held the programme last year, in partnership with Cornwall College Business, Bluefruit Software and dBS Code, and it proved highly successful.

The two-week ‘boot camp’ will be held at Bluefruit Software’s new premises at the Barncoose Gateway Park in July.

Attendees will be working on a ‘real-world’ simulation of a software project, working alongside industry experts and learning the commercial aspects of coding, as well as the project management side, using Agile processes and methodologies.

Last year, over half of the attendees were hired by software companies within six months.

Jon Jagger, one of the mentors on the programme, said: “The hands-on, practical format of the summer school is a vital aspect of its success; there’s nothing remotely resembling a PowerPoint presentation, and instead there is learning by doing, mixed with a few structured practice sessions.

“I thoroughly enjoyed helping out last year and look forward to working with the new attendees this year.”
