Aspiring and new entrepreneurs across the south west have until June 1 to apply online and take advantage of free, intensive coaching from School for Startups to help them launch a business.

School for Startups, led by entrepreneur Doug Richard – a former Dragon from the BBC’s popular Dragon’s Den TV programme – is offering an intensive six-week accelerator course to teach the basics of business and help a new company get off the ground.

The new course, which would usually cost over £1k, is designed especially for the south west region and is being provided free of charge as a key strand of the Plymouth and South West Peninsula City Deal, through its £6 million business support programme funded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF).

School for Startups aims to start 250 new businesses in the region this year, and the programme will run at venues in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset from June-July or Sept-Oct.

Due to high levels of demand for the regional information sessions, three more have been added, including two in Cornwall, in St Austell and Truro on May 28. These are an extra chance to meet the team and find out more about the programme – as well as listening to some candid advice from Doug.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply online for a place on the programme before June 1,when applications close. For full details and to complete the short application form online, click here.
