Organised by local beer sommelier and owner of Penpont Brewery, Joe Thomson, the event will be held in Launceston’s town square on Saturday August 31,

With a host of local and national breweries getting involved, there will be over 30 different types of beer on tap, 25 cask ales and six beers on craft keg, as well as a selection of cider and imported bottled beer.

“2013 has been a fantastic year for Penpont Brewery” said Thomson. “Holding Launceston’s first ever beer festival seems the perfect way to celebrate and we’ll also be launching our new pale ale.”

At the event visitors will be able to learn how to match beer and food, take part in tasting sessions and have the opportunity to meet brewers. Food will be available throughout the day and there will be live music in the evening.
