As well as opening the event, taking place on Truro’s Lemon Quay on May 16, the former England captain and Celebrity Masterchef will also be hosting a special workshop on leadership, discussing his career to date and kick starting the day’s celebration of business in Cornwall.

This year’s fair, which forms part of Cornwall Business Week, is being co-hosted by the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Convergence-funded Outset Cornwall programme.

Cornwall Chamber chief executive Kim Conchie explained: “This year’s fair is an exciting time for both organisations.

“We are working with Outset to create a stronger business community within a growing Cornish economy. The event will provide both chamber members and Outset clients with the opportunity not only to promote their businesses within a wider network, but to showcase the fantastic enterprises that Cornwall has to offer.”

In addition, there will also free workshops on social media, sales and marketing. Guest speakers include Julian Summerhayes of Brand You, Dr Michelle Lawrence of Cornwall College Business and Tim Bryant of Outset’s parent company, YTKO.

Kate McEwen, Outset’s head of operations for the South West, added: “The Cornwall Business Fair is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our clients.

“To date, 205 new businesses have been started in Cornwall with Outset’s help. Working in partnership with the chamber will provide new networking opportunities for Outset clients, and cements the start of a legacy that Outset Cornwall is putting in place for them for future years.”
