Advice on how changes to the Equality Bill will affect Cornish businesses is being given at a free seminar by Coodes Solicitors in Penzance this month.

The seminar on the Equality Bill is being held at the Hotel Penzance on October 14, from 2.00 – 3.30pm.

The new Equality Act described as being the most significant piece of legislation for years, came into effect on October 1 and will have an impact in several different areas.

These include disability, equal pay and contract terms, discriminating lawfully and gender reassignment.

Throughout October and November, Coodes will also be hosting a series of Employment Law Update workshops in various locations to talk about the Equality Bill. The next destination is Launceston on the Thursday, November 4.

Spaces at the seminar and workshops are limited, so if you would like to reserve a place, contact Suzanne Skerry.

Meanwhile, also at Hotel Penzance on October 14, members of the Coodes Solicitors property team will be on hand to meet local agents, banks and professionals.

The doors will open at 4.30pm until 6pm to give people a chance to come along and ask questions.

Alistair Whyte, who heads the residential property team, said: “Staff at the Penzance office are fielding a large number of enquiries recently, so we thought if we held a meet and greet session then anyone with a question or query could pop in and speak to a solicitor in person.

“It is also a great chance to take advantage of the special offers we are running. Coodes are offering On the Move clients a simple Will for one person, including storage for £99 plus VAT.”

Special offers are also being run for first time buyers, with a fixed fee price of £499 plus VAT.
