Cornwall College Business (CCB) is calling on the region’s apprentices and local businesses to attend the Building the Future event next week.

The event, at The Keay, St Austell on October 28, is designed to motivate and highlight business opportunities for Cornish construction, engineering, marine and new technologies industries.

TV presenter and eco-engineer Dick Strawbridge will be there to inspire the apprentices and businesses by talking about creating a sustainable future plus the need for up-skilling.

He said: “As Cornwall becomes a flagship region for sustainable construction in the UK, it’s vital that we have enough home grown talent to meet the demands of this dynamic and technologically advanced industry.”

“At Building the Future I am looking forward to seeing as many apprentices and businesses as possible who are interested in getting the job done properly and creating a better future for themselves and this county.”

Dave Linnell, principal of Cornwall College added: “As Cornwall moves towards a low carbon economy, we need to ensure apprentices and businesses have the skills to match.”

“Building the Future will give apprentices great opportunities for training to help them and their businesses, which will contribute to a highly skilled workforce in Cornwall.”
