Chartered accountant Winter Rule is reporting strong demand for a finance seminar being held next month, with almost 90 people already signed up to attend.

The Finance in Cornwall seminar is aimed at business owners in Cornwall who need advice on potential sources of growth finance.

Winter Rule is organising the event in Newquay on May 13, in partnership with solicitors Stephens Scown and Business Link. It follows a similar event last year.

David Bullen, manager in Winter Rule’s corporate finance team, said: “We’re very encouraged by the level of interest in the seminar and it suggests that Cornish businesses are thinking seriously about growth prospects following the downturn.

“We have a good number of businesses from the low carbon and cleantech sector attending and this is undoubtedly a growth area for Cornwall’s economy.”

The seminar will feature presentations from a range of finance providers including the South West Regional Development Agency and The Carbon Trust.

The Business Link team will look at how to access different sources of finance and the help available to fill out applications, and there will be an update from YTKO and Oxford Innovation on the unique range of business support available in Cornwall.

The free event will be held at the Hotel Bristol in Newquay on May 13 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. Places are still available by contacting Isobel Birbeck at Winter Rule, email ibirbeck@winterrule.co.uk
