New media network, Cornwall Social Media Café (CSMC) is to host one of London’s most popular social media figures, Lloyd Davis, at its October event.

Davis, who is the original founder of the first Social Media Café, also known as Tuttle Club, will join the event on Wednesday October 21, from 6pm at CUC’s Tremough Campus in Penryn.

During the day, Davis will be delivering a lecture to students at UCF focusing on social media collaboration. He will remain at the campus to present to members of the Cornwall Social Media Café in the evening.

Davis’ evening talk is likely to focus on the history of London’s Tuttle Club – on which the Cornwall café is modelled providing his expert view on where he sees social media heading in the future.

Davis has been blogging and podcasting since 2004 and with a diverse background that includes theatre, information management and public service he has acquired a unique, in-depth and practical understanding of how to use media and social networks on the web to build and sustain rich relationships online and off.

Cornwall Social Media Café was started in April this year and was the first group of its kind in the south west to bring together anyone with an interest in social media. The monthly events regularly attract people from Cornwall’s business, academic, media, not-for-profit and public sector communities.

Co-founder of the Cornwall Social Media Café, Laura McKay said: “We are really excited about Lloyd’s visit and delighted he is coming from London to share his knowledge and expertise about all things social media.

“If you’ve never attended a CSMC event before, this would be an excellent one to start with. Lloyd will give a great introduction to the Social Media Café concept and you’ll also get the opportunity to network with other keen social media users from across the county. Special thanks to University College Falmouth for helping to facilitate Lloyd’s trip down.”

October’s Cornwall Social Media Café will be held in Seminar Room L in the Daphne du Maurier building, and will be clearly signposted ‘Cornwall Social Media Café’.

All Cornwall Social Media Café events are free to attend, and new members are always welcome. For more information, or to register for the event, click here.
