On Thursday 8th October 2009, PR practitioners from across the region are expected to head to the Watershed in Bristol city centre for the 2009 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) South West Communicators’ Conference.  This year the event’s key note speaker will be Clarence Mitchell of Freud Communications, official spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann.Titled ‘Making the Most of Challenging Times’, the full day event will offer 12 workshops alongside opportunities to network and discuss the challenges posed to communications professionals in today’s economic climate.

Bath-based Clarence Mitchell will take the position of keynote speaker. He commented: “I am delighted to be coming to speak at the South West Communicators’ Conference in October. I will be speaking about how communications and public relations are essential components in the support of both individuals and organisations during such challenging times.

“I would urge anyone involved in communications to attend what, I hope, will be a ‘don’t miss’ event.”

Shelley Fletcher, Account Manager at Deborah Clark Associates said: “This conference is the perfect opportunity for PR practitioners from across the region to come together with fellow PR’s for what looks set to be an extremely informative event.  The key note speaker this year is expected to draw a crowd and the wide selection of workshops means that those attending will be sure to have an action packed day.

“It’s fantastic to see such exciting industry events taking place in our region.  I’d encourage anyone working in, or interested in PR to book a place at this popular annual conference.”

The workshops cover topics including ‘Sustaining Your Company Values: the Importance of CSR’ with Guy Watson, Founder of Devon-based Riverford Organics.

The conference concludes with a plenary session, including Jan Ormondroyd, Chief Executive of Bristol City Council, and Clarence Mitchell debating the future of communications.

Ticket prices, including a buffet lunch and refreshments, start at just £75.00 plus VAT for CIPR members, if booked by September 5th, and just £95.00 plus VAT for non members. Places can be booked via www.guestminder.co.uk/ciprcommunicatorsconference2009
