Whether you’re a regular Tweeter or have just about got to grips with your Facebook page, next week (Thursday April 9th) the south west’s first gathering dedicated to anyone interested in the phenomenon that is social media is happening in Truro.
The Cornwall Social Media Cafe is designed to bring together anyone interested in social media; to meet, get aquatinted and share ideas.
Social Media Cafes, or Tuttle Clubs, were first started in London last year and the idea has quickly spread across the country with regular gatherings being held in major cities including Manchester and Reading.
Aren Grimshaw, Head of Social Media at UKNetWeb has teamed up with Laura McKay, Senior Account Executive at Deborah Clark Associates to make the Social Media Cafe concept a reality in Cornwall.
Aren said: “Social Media Café’s offer a great opportunity for those meeting and networking online to come together and meet face to face. Although many relationships are now created in a virtual environment it is nice once in a while to get together in the real world and talk more.”
“Following the success of the Cornwall Twestival we felt it was time to introduce something more regular into the local social media calendar and we hope the Cornwall Social Media Cafe concept will have the same great response.”
The first cafe will be a relaxed, informal event, with the new membership invited to enjoy a drink with their online friends before the bank holiday weekend begins.
Guests are set to arrive at 7pm in Zafiros, Truro, on Thursday April 9th. Those interested in joining or learning more should search and join the Cornwall Social Media Cafe group on Facebook or go to http://cornwallsocialmediacafe.pbwiki.com/.
