Sustainable business experts Envirowise will be running two ‘webinars’ to help product and packaging designers in the South West gain a deeper understanding of eco-design.Designers who register for the sessions on October 8 and February 25 next year can log on from the comfort of their own desk to attend virtual seminars covering product and packaging eco-design, relevant legislation and live product and packaging disassembly exercises.

The webinars will culminate in a roundtable discussion where attendees will be given the opportunity to ask their own eco-design questions to a panel of experts from organisations including Envirowise and British Standards.

October’s webinar gives an overview of eco-design, including case studies of companies who have gone through a product disassembly exercise to improve resource efficiency and cut costs. The follow-up in February takes a more in-depth look at the design process and offers practical advice on how eco-design methodologies can be applied in the design process.

Paul Gilbert, South West regional manager says: “The feedback we had from our 2007 webinar was extremely positive, with nine out of ten of those who participated saying they would sign up for another one.

“Since 2007, we have developed the content to give a much broader picture of the eco-design process and include far more practical elements which we think will be of use and interest to anyone involved in the design process.”
