Over 500 businesses in Cornwall are set to benefit from £3.7 million investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to help them take advantage of new digital technologies enabled by faster broadband.

The new Superfast Business Cornwall and Isles of Scilly service launched this month and helps eligible small to medium size enterprises boost business competitiveness through increased understanding and exploitation of digital technology.

The service offers SMEs, start-ups and social enterprises, a tailored programme of high quality information, advice and digital skills development. Match funding is available to enable or accelerate transformational digital projects.

The service is for eligible SMEs based in Cornwall and will run from June 2016 to March 2019. Funded by ERDF, the service will be delivered by Peninsula Enterprise and will run through to March 2019.

This new initiative builds upon the success of the previous Superfast Business Cornwall Service which ended in September 2015, but is able to support a wider range and number of businesses in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

Sebeail Fowell – Superfast Business Cornwall programme and partnership manager at Peninsula Enterprise, said: “The application of digital technology offers businesses the opportunity to implement change that can bring both immediate and long term gains, from increasing productivity through flexible working to reaching new markets through developing new products and services.

“We are urging ambitious businesses with growth potential to visit our website and find out more about the service and book onto one of our events – it has the potential to revolutionise your business.”
