Government minister Greg Clark dropped into the offices of design and marketing agency, Eight Wire, during his visit to Falmouth this week.

The Minister for Universities, Science and Cities, who was in Cornwall to sign the £200 million Growth Deal, made a special visit to Eight Wire to see an example of a fast-growing Cornwall business.

Clark visited Eight Wire’s new Trevethan Road address following a £300k investment in the creation of a new studio workspace in Falmouth with superfast connectivity and space to grow over the next 18 months, which includes £25k of Government assistance.

As well as its own funding, the agency secured two match-funding grants – £15k from the Business Catalyst Fund towards a £30k studio renovation project and £10k from the Superfast Cornwall Fund towards a £20k IT and VoIP phone system.

Eight Wire director, Jamie Smith, said: “It was great to meet the Minister because we are very grateful for the assistance we have had in bringing our buildings and IT infrastructure up to the standard required for us to be competitive internationally.

“We work with a national and international client base which is only possible because Cornwall has the infrastructure in place to help digitally reliant businesses such as ours compete effectively against our city-based counterparts.”
