Superfast Cornwall, the pioneering broadband partnership between the EU, BT and Cornwall Council, has received another global award.
The £132 million initiative, which is rolling superfast broadband out across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, received the Changing Lives Broadband Infovision Award at the 12th annual Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam last night.
The partnership also received worldwide recognition last year when it was named Project of the Year at the World Communication Awards.
Nigel Ashcroft, Superfast Cornwall programme director for Cornwall Development Company, Cornwall Council’s economic development company, and Ranulf Scarbrough, Superfast Cornwall programme director for BT, attended the event in Amsterdam and received the award. The judging panel included senior executives from some of the world’s leading telecommunications companies.
Scarbrough said: “It was a wonderful occasion and great to see Cornwall once again appearing as a world leader to an international audience.
“The Superfast Cornwall partnership continues to go from strength to strength both in its roll-out of fibre optic broadband and the recognition it is receiving across the world.”
