The Government has given its backing to the superfast broadband trials that are shortly due to take place in Cornwall.
Last week Business Cornwall revealed that Vtesse Networks and Virgin Media are teaming to trial speeds of up to 50mbps in two areas to the east of Duchy, Hatt and Saltash.
Minister for Digital Britain, Stephen Timms, welcomed the news and said: “It’s vital that all parts of the UK can reap the benefits of a world-class digital infrastructure to boost jobs, growth and competitiveness.
“That is why I welcome this investment in next generation fibre optic services by Virgin Media and Vtesse Networks for Cornwall. This is good news for the region and will open up new opportunities for consumers and businesses.”
