In April-June 2013, PFA Research conducted some research into the marketing activities of local businesses.

Some interesting results came out last time, which told us that the average local business dedicates up to 11% of turnover to marketing but 41% had no formal processes in place to measure the results and the majority of local businesses were approaching marketing at a purely tactical level.  You can see the results here:
