Falmouth Docks will provide a dramatic industrial backdrop for an innovative evening of dance, music and film taking place this weekend (Saturday, Jan 24).

A&P Falmouth stepped in to offer one of its buildings at the Docks as the venue for the performance after being approached by former Falmouth University graduate Grace Clayton.

The new piece – called RULES – is Grace’s first piece of independent choreography and will feature seven undergraduate second year performers from Falmouth University.

She said: “The piece is based on the idea of breaking social rules and my hope was to organise a performance in early 2015 in a warehouse space, which proved to be far more challenging than originally anticipated.

“I approached A&P and they kindly offered to show me round and see what we could do. Since then it has all been incredible, A&P’s support and generosity has been amazing and I couldn’t have asked for more.”

Peter Child, MD at A&P Falmouth, said: “The Docks are such an integral part of the fabric of Falmouth and so we are always enthusiastic to support the local community when possible. Hosting an arts event in an industrial setting may well be a first for us in the Docks but we were only too happy to help out.”
