Radix Communications, a marketing copywriting agency based in Penryn, is sponsoring the Cornwall Film Festival 2010, taking place from November 5-7 at the Phoenix Cinema in Falmouth.

Radix will sponsor two screenings of the documentary film Catfish, which is being previewed exclusively at the Festival on Friday November 5 and the following Sunday, ahead of its general UK release on December 17.

Known as the ‘other’ Facebook movie (alongside The Social Network), Catfish has divided audiences since its debut at Sundance last winter. But while the former is about the creation of social networking, the latter is about its consequences. Does social networking bring friends together, or force unwanted situations upon unsuspecting people? And is Catfish itself being truthful?

Cornish audiences will have an early opportunity to explore these questions by seeing the film a full six weeks before it is released in the rest of the UK.

Fiona Campbell-Howes, managing director of Radix Communications, said: “This was a perfect opportunity for us to support the arts in Cornwall by sponsoring the screening of a film whose central theme – on the internet, what constitutes reality? – is one of the most fascinating intellectual questions of the early 21st century.”
