Superfast milestone

A quarter of all Cornish homes and businesses now have access to superfast broadband.

Superfast Cornwall said today that about 66,000 Cornish premises can now receive the service, with the technology operating in 35 of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’s 100 telephone exchange areas.

Ranulf Scarbrough, BT’s Superfast Cornwall programme director, said: “This is great progress. The fact that we have just brought superfast fibre broadband to communities as far afield as Penzance in the far West, Torpoint in the east and Newquay in the north helps demonstrate the scale and breadth of the roll-out.

“We are well on course to reaching 100,000 premises during the spring.”

  1. Congratulations Superfast Cornwall from Superslow Devon. We are well on course to get absolutely nothing. Another year before those lucky enough to get anything will be known or partly known.

Not that Tavistock is included – yes I will give it a plug as it is under 3 miles away from Superfast Cornwall. May as well be in another Country.

  2. I have registered two properties that are in areas going live in December 2011. I have checked regularly on top of registering the phone numbers but have heard nothing. Neither can get SFBB yet.
