CMN unaffected by funding freeze

The chief executive of Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) has written to members reassuring them that it will not be affected by the current uncertainties surrounding Convergence funding.

The moratorium imposed on spending this week only affects the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for which CMN does not have any projects to deliver.

The network’s training programme does receive some European Social Fund (ESF) support, but that is not part of the freeze.

CEO Paul Wickes told members: “I have been asked what impact this has on CMN’s marketing and training support for member businesses and I am pleased to assure you that these services are not affected at all.

“Marketing activity is funded by your subscriptions and some income we generate from two European Trans-national projects, and the training programme (ESF Convergence) is not connected to ERDF and therefore not affected. Indeed, we look forward to bidding for more marketing and training funding at the end of 2010, to serve you for the next three years.”
