The £2 million UKTI Globalisation Project is about to run the first-ever workshop aimed specifically at helping Cornish businesses build trade in Japan and the Far East.

The initiative, which has received ERDF Convergence investment, is holding a ‘Keys to Success in Japan’ workshop at Falmouth’s Greenbank Hotel on May 10.

UKTI’s Rory Uniacke explained: “This is the latest in a series of workshops to give small and medium sized Cornish businesses the knowledge and skills they need to trade overseas. We want to see a step change in the number of businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that build profitable international business.”

Carleen Kelemen, director of the Convergence Partnership, said: “It is vital that small and medium sized businesses in Cornwall expand their horizons and improve their international performance. Workshops like this are a great way of taking the first step towards building profitable trade overseas.”

Interested businesses should call Lenna Bithell on 0845 60 23657 (ext. 8205) as soon as possible as places are strictly limited.
