Heartlands, the £32 million Big Lottery funded regeneration project in the heart of Pool, will be holding a public consultation event on Friday, January 29 at The Hub Club on Station Road, Pool.

Members of the public are being invited to attend the event, which is taking place from 11am until 8pm. Representatives from the Heartlands project team will be available to answer any questions about the revised plans for the 7.5 hectare site.

The new plans will highlight revisions to the previously approved planning applications, including a larger hall with additional facilities for the local community. They will also detail Heartlands’ sustainable energy strategy, in particular solar, wind and biomass, and provide an update on the next steps to building the scheme, and the opening in 2011.

Since the funding from the Big Lottery Fund was awarded, Cornwall Council has developed the project to ensure the highest design standards that will be in keeping with the historic buildings, using local materials. The main amendments to the previous design focuses on the new buildings designed to accommodate artist studios, office space and residential accommodation together with extending the community facilities in an enhanced, dedicated hall.
