The Rockpool beach café in west Cornwall is supporting Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), to raise funds and awareness of the charity’s projects, which aim to protect and preserve Cornwall’s coastline and maritime habitats.

The Rockpool joins a community of eco-campaigners as an accredited member of the SAS Business Membership Scheme and an Approved Plastic Free Business Champion.

The Rockpool’s commitment will directly support SAS’s education programme, maritime protection campaigns and efforts to tackle the plastic pollution crisis.

Located between the dunes of Gwithian and Godrevy, The Rockpool sits in one of Cornwall’s best surf spots and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the far end of St Ives Bay.

Ryan Venning, The Rockpool’s general manager and head chef, said: “We’re so proud to be supporting SAS and championing positive environmental practises in our business. We feel a natural affinity with SAS, living and breathing beach life from our base here at Gwithian.

“We’re a team of nature lovers, surfers and environmentalists and see ourselves as unofficial custodians of the coast with a shared responsibility to play our part in its protection – and hopefully welcome others to join the ride with us too.”
