As the second lockdown kicked in, Food4Heroes Kernow delivered meals to Cornwall Care staff in the Camborne and Redruth area last week.

Prepared by the family-run food business, Fee’s Food, a choice of meat and vegetarian meals were supplied to staff at the St Martin’s (Camborne), Blackwood (Camborne) and The Green (Redruth) residential and nursing care homes.

During the first lockdown over 18,000 meals were prepared by top chefs across Cornwall through the Food4Heroes Kernow project. They were supplied on a daily basis to both NHS Community Hospital and Cornwall Care staff.

Rock-based Fee’s Food was one of the kitchens which stepped forward in April to volunteer chef time, providing meals not only for Food4Heroes but also for the Wadebridge Food Bank.

“We ran a major fundraising campaign back in the summer to enable Food4Heroes to get up and running in Cornwall,” said Kate Holborow, High Sheriff of Cornwall.

“We have some funds remaining and wanted to show our continuing gratitude and appreciation to the dedication and sacrifice shown by Cornwall’s care workers.”
