Socially minded businesses in Cornwall are being invited to a social enterprise summit and launch of the Social Enterprise Zone Membership scheme at The Eden Project next month.

The Engine Room project, an ERDF business support project which has been running in Cornwall since December 2013, will be hosting the event on Monday, June 15, to raise awareness of its achievements in this sector.

Opening at 12.30pm with a networking lunch and followed by updates from all three social partners in the project, The Engine Room will be joined by keynote speakers, Peter Holbrook, chief executive of Social Enterprise UK and Kim Conchie, CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

Holbrook said: “As a Social Enterprise Place, Cornwall is re-injecting life into local communities across the borough, creating opportunities, local wealth and changing lives for the better.  Social enterprises in Cornwall are dynamic and showing strong growth – we need to continue to support the sector by buying from social enterprises across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”

Attendees are also invited to stay for the second event of the afternoon from 2.15pm where a BBC Question Time style Q&A session will discuss the future of Social Enterprise.

The event is free to attend. To reserve a place – search Engine Room on Eventbrite.
