Carn Brea Leisure Centre was opened by Kerrier District Council in 1974, but following a brief period of closure, reopened in February 2000 trading as an Independent Charitable Trust.

Over the subsequent 14 years, the charity has grown from strength to strength and as well as accommodating over 600,000 visits a year, has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark to recognise its contribution for trading socially and environmentally.

Colin Rowe, chairman of the Trustees said: “This is an exciting time to be joining the board as we continue to work up our plans for a new, improved and sustainable leisure centre while maintaining a focus on the existing offer of affordable, high quality, leisure services.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone with a professional background, experience or involvement in the health, legal, property or IT sectors.”

Anyone who is interested in becoming a trustee is asked to visit the recruitment page of the centre’s website.
