A ball arranged by a group of female independent financial advisers has raised over £5,625 for charity.

The WoW Summer Ball was held at Merchants Manor Hotel in Falmouth on Friday, July 4, and was organised by Truro-based Worldwide Financial Planning, with support from Santander.

The evening featured a performance from Double Bounce, as well as charity auction including a Manchester United shirt signed by Wayne Rooney, a signed Arsenal photograph and a night with dinner at The Cornwall Hotel and Spa.

Donna Hansen, whose late mother was looked after by Cornwall Hospice Care at St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, said: “It was a brilliant evening and the feedback from the guests was great. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.

“We were so pleased with the amount we raised and we’d like to say a huge thank you to Santander for the support they gave us.

“We’d also like to thank all the businesses in Cornwall who supported us with prize donations for the charity auction and raffle, and Merchants Manor for the providing an amazing venue and fab food.”

The evening was opened by BBC Radio Cornwall’s deputy news editor and Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Cornwall, Daphne Skinnard.

The Women of Worldwide (WoW) team was set up by Donna Hansen, Rebecca Bendle and Lynne Williams in April 2012 to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.

To date the trio have raised over £11,000.
