A collaboration of Cornwall’s voluntary sector and business support organisations are highlighting the value of social enterprise to the economy as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 14-18).

At the event, social enterprise experts will be on hand to offer advice to budding social entrepreneurs. UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs, is providing the opportunity for individuals with new sustainable solutions to social problems to pitch for UnLtd Awards of up to £5k in a Dragons’ Den-style pitching event.

Other activities will include networking sessions, workshops, one-to-one sessions with a range of professionals, a Q&A with a panel of experts and social enterprise market stalls.

This event has been planned by a partnership of organisations, all of whom receive support from the ERDF or ESF Convergence programmes – Outset Cornwall, Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs, CN4C and PCDT.

Carleen Kelemen, director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: “Social enterprises are an important part of the fabric of economic activity in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Each of these organisations uses Convergence investment to offer flexible, expert support for people wanting to start their own social enterprise.”

The free event will take place at the headquarters of Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) – The Elms, Redruth – on Friday, November 18, from 9.30am until 4pm. There are limited places for the day and for the business pitch opportunity, so book now by contacting Adam on 01736 334667 or email.
