The best of the Duchy’s legal sector was celebrated at Truro Cathedral recently, with the annual Cornwall Law Society Awards.

Among the big winners on the night, Penderlaw Solicitors was crowned Small Firm of the Year while also receiving the Judges’ Award.

Robin Pender, principal solicitor and director, said: “Winning Small Firm of the Year is fantastic achievement and I feel incredibly proud of the team. Coming home with the Judge’s award too, is testament to the dedication and talent within the firm.”

Other big winners on the night were Coodes, which won four awards including Large Firm of the Year and Team of the Year (clinical negligence and personal injury), and Stephens Scown, which picked up a brace of individual accolades – Family Lawyer of the Year (Sarah Atkinson) and Tamsin Mann (Commercial/Commercial Property Lawyer of the Year).

Managing partner, Richard Baker, said: “It’s brilliant to see Sarah and Tamsin’s success in the Cornwall Law Society Awards. Having been nominated across five categories and picking up two awards, it’s clear that the work being done across the firm is being recognised in Cornwall.”

  • Residential property lawyer of the year – Louise Biddington (Earl & Crocker Solicitors)
  • In-house lawyer of the year – Jo Cook (Cornish Lithium)
  • Access to Justice – Dracaena Centre, Falmouth
  • Team of the Year – Coodes Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury
  • Leader of the Year – Sarah Evans (Coodes)
  • Small firm of the Year – Penderlaw
  • Large firm of the Year – Coodes
  • Judges’ Award – Penderlaw
