The best British vodka originates from a 200-acre potato farm in Cornwall: Aval Dor Vodka from Colwith Farm Distillery has been recognised as one of the UK’s highest-ranking vodkas, winning the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold for a second consecutive year.

According to the results revealed on yesterday (May 5), the Cornish potato vodka is the only one in the UK to achieve Double Gold more than once, outranking a host of other well-known brands. The fifth-generation family farm also trumped the competition with a Gold for its gin, Aval Dor Dry Gin.

“We are justifiably, immensely proud that our spirits both came away with such high accolades,” said Colwith Farm Distillery owner Steve Dustow. “For a plough to bottle distillery making something from scratch to win Gold in two categories is incredible. And to achieve Double Gold for our vodka two years in a row is unprecedented.

“This comes as proof that we are making exceptional spirits at their pinnacle,” he concluded. “The fact that we are doing this in a sustainable, single estate way is the crowning achievement.”

Said to be one of the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition saw a 20% increase in entrants in 2021, to 3,800.
