James Kittow Butcher & Grazier struck gold three times at this year’s Taste of the West Awards and cemented his status as Cornwall’s sausage king.

The popular butcher’s signature Pen‘n’Tinny Porker, a traditional 95% Cornish pork, dairy free sausage, picked up the top award in the annual industry competition’s sausage category.

In the same section a Cornish pork and leek sausage that Kittow produced exclusively for The Lost Gardens of Heligan, secured another gold gong.

Made using his grandfather’s time-served recipe, the firm’s Cornish Hogs Pudding also won gold.

James Kittow, who is based at Kilhallon Farm near Par, is the fifth generation of the Kittow family to farm the land, rear pedigree beef cattle, and supply Cornish meats to the community since 1880.

He said: “We are very pleased to have won these awards and be recognised as being among the best at what we do not just in Cornwall but across the west country.”
