Marian Rothwell (middle) with Don Gardner and High Sheriff of Cornwall Kate Holborow

Marian Rothwell a volunteer with the Camborne, Pool & Redruth Foodbank, Transformation CPR, has been awarded the High Sheriff of Cornwall Unsung Hero Award.

Launched 12 years ago by the legendary Don Gardner and his late wife Jen, Transformation CPR today provides over 17,000 meals a month to between 400 and 500 struggling families in the Camborne, Pool & Redruth area. There is also now a delivery service supplying around 5000 homes a month.

“None of this would be possible without Don’s inspiration and drive,” commented High Sheriff Kate Holborow.

“Yet it is the army of volunteers which keeps the wheels turning and the meals flowing.  Marian has been volunteering at the food bank for four years now. Moreover on her 80th birthday she rode the precipitous Eden Project Zip Wire to raise £1,350 for Transformation CPR.  Thank you Marian.”

Other nominations for the High Sheriff of Cornwall’s Unsung Hero Award, with a brief citation, and a contact point for further discussion should be forwarded to the High Sheriff’s office via HSofCornwall@gmail.com on an ongoing basis until February 28.  All will be acknowledged and responded to within a month.
