Cornish pubs have been shortlisted in The Great British Pub Awards, with up to £10k available to the winner of each category.

This year the categories have been changed to reflect the coronavirus pandemic and celebrate those businesses that have adapted and come out the other side as community champions.

The Bowgie Inn in Crantock is a finalist in two categories – Staff Welfare and Community Mindfulness, while the Golden Lion (Redruth) is in the running for Front Line Support, the Caradon Inn (Liskeard) has been nominated for Pub Shop, while the County Arms (Truro) is listed in the Sheltering Community for offering its rooms for use to NHS staff from nearby Treliske Hospital during lockdown.

The winners are chosen through a public vote, which closes on August 26 with the winners announced on September 24.

  1. Since the refurb, the Bowgie is awful! Food has gone downhill, nowhere near as good as it used to be!
Can’t believe it’s up for an award!
