Sustainable housebuilder Verto Homes has been shortlisted to receive two awards at the National Federation of Builders Awards 2018: House Builder of the Year and New Build Project of the Year for its flagship development in Newquay, Island Reach.

As creator of the first Zero Carbon Smart Homes in the UK, Verto Homes claims to be unique in its sustainability credentials among the nominees.

Verto Homes co-founder, Tom Carr, said being shortlisted was a boost for the business and growing recognition of its successful approach to development.

“These nominations mean a lot to us,” he said.

“Our zero-carbon vision was a challenge to achieve, but we haven’t compromised – and to be acknowledged by NFB shows us that perspectives are really beginning to shift, and the industry is ready to embrace what we believe is the future of house-building.”

Truro-based Verto Homes was founded in 2010 and designs, builds and sells intelligent, sustainable, Zero Carbon Smart Homes which produce and use their own renewable energy. It has an ambition to become the UK’s largest builder of sustainable homes by 2021.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Sutton Coldfield, on March 27.
