There were a number of local winners at yesterday’s Taste of the West Awards, which were held at Exeter Cathedral.

The Awards, now in their 23rd year, celebrate the best food and drink across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire and are a benchmark for excellence across the region.

In 2016, 1,200 products and over 300 hospitality and retail establishments entered the awards, with the highest standard ever being set for judges to select winners from.

Cornish entries did themselves proud winning four of the 22 Champion Product categories and also four of the Hospitality & Retail categories including Best Butcher for Kittow’s Quality Meats, Best Online Retailer for The Cornish Fishmonger, Best Dining Pub for The Rising Sun in Truro and Best Café/Tea Room for Boscastle Farmshop.
