Described by the Catey team as ‘Cornwall’s greatest hospitality ambassadors’ the entrepreneurs were recognised for their contribution to building a global brand over the last 41 years, and collected their award in front an audience of more than 1,200 of their peers at what is regarded as the Oscars of the hospitality industry, held at London’s Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel.
Rick Stein commented: “We’re both delighted to have received this fabulous award. In a rather rambling speech at the ceremony I said that I believe there is something really special about the hospitality industry, the friendships you make are friends for life and serving the public on a daily basis is a great leveller i.e. it doesn’t matter how successful you get you’re only as good as your last meal and also as good as the staff who work for you. We’re both extraordinarily lucky to have had a wonderful collection of characters working with us over the years and it’s all of them that I would like to thank.”
