The 2013 Cornwall Sustainability Awards will officially open for entries at a launch event during the Green Cornwall Show.
The breakfast event, which will be held at Heartlands on Thursday, June 27, will give businesses an opportunity to find out more about entering this year’s awards.
There will also be three workshops for guests to attend – how to complete your Cornwall Sustainability Awards application; carbon management; and sustainable transport and travel planning.
Veryan Jones, Cornwall Council’s sustainable development officer and one of the event organisers, said: “We’re already getting a lot of interest in this year’s awards so we thought a launch event would be a great way to get people together and update them with our plans for this, our 11th anniversary.
“The workshops will also give people a chance to see what is involved in entering and winning an award.
“The awards mean a lot to the people who enter and those who win, and it’s great to know that many previous winners have used them as a springboard to further success, both in terms of national awards and with increased business.”
This year sees the number of categories increased from ten to 15.
Companies will be able to compete in the Best Managed Company (small, medium and large), Best Individual, Best Product, Best Service, Sustainable Construction – Retrofit and New Build, Resource Management, Green Shoots New Business, Best Integrated Renewable Energy System in a Building, Best Cornish Renewable Energy Installation Company, Best Community Renewable Energy Scheme, Best Domestic Renewable Energy Scheme, Best Commercial Renewable Energy Scheme and Overall Winner.
The 2012 Overall Winner was PALL Newquay.
