The Cornwall Development Company (CDC) has announced the launch of the Cornwall Business Awards 2013, the most prestigious business awards event in the Duchy.
This year, the event will be run in partnership with Business Cornwall magazine and Cornwall Chamber.
CDC chief executive, Suzanne Bond, said: “The awards are a great way to celebrate the stars of the Cornish business community.
“This is the eighth year that Cornwall Development Company has staged the Cornwall Business Awards and, every single year, the quality of businesses entering seems to be higher.
Around 350 business leaders are expected to attend the awards dinner at St Mellion International Resort on May 16.
Any business based in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly can enter one or more of 14 award categories, which include Best New Business in Cornwall and Best Use of Superfast Broadband. A new Award Category this year is Best Family Business.
For this year’s awards, some previous winners will be joining the judging panel. This includes Rachel Jones (Fit ‘N’ Fun Kids), Sarah Trethowan (TRAC Services), Lucy Jewson (Frugi) and Angus Clark (TJ International).
Bond added: “For the first time, the winners will be selected partly by peers in the business community. These judges can draw from their own experiences to identify the worthy winners and we are hoping to see a surge of new entrants this year.”
