Tourism businesses across Cornwall were celebrating last night (November 8) at the 11th annual Cornwall Tourism Awards 2012.
The congratulatory evening held at Newquay’s Headland Hotel saw Red Hotels, which comprises of The Scarlet and Bedruthan Steps Hotel, being crowned overall Winner of Winners having also been recognised in the Large Hotel, Small Hotel and Café of the Year categories. The luxury hotel group was singled out for quality and leadership in sustainable tourism and rewarded for providing unwavering excellence.
Joining Red Hotels on the winners roll was Bodmin Visitor Information Centre, which retained the Tourist Information Service of the Year award for the fourth year running. Bosinver Farm Cottages also impressively held onto its Large Self Catering Establishment title from last year.
Alongside previous winners stood many new and first time Gold trophy holders including Talland Bay Hotel for Small Hotel, The Old Rectory for Sustainable Tourism and Porthcurno Telegraph Musuem for Small Attraction.
Other notable winners included the two star Michelin Outlaw’s Seafood and Grill Restaurant in Rock which added Restaurant of the Year to its prestigious list of titles.
Malcolm Bell, head of VisitCornwall, said: “As a destination Cornwall has had tremendous award success picking up a string of top titles and we owe much of this to tourism businesses who make Cornwall’s quality status what it is. The Cornwall Tourism Awards are a chance for these businesses to shine and to celebrate the continuous hard-work, investment and passion that they put into the local tourism industry. Congratulations to all of the worthy winners.”
All of the Cornwall Tourism Awards winners will now go on to represent Cornwall in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards and ultimately the National Excellence Awards which take place next year.
