A Truro restaurant has been named one of the best places in the UK to have brunch.

The One Eyed Cat has been ranked seventh out of the country’s 30 Best Places for Brunch, by The Times newspaper.

Times restaurant critic Caroline Boucher was impressed by the standard of the Cats menu, with items such as Falmouth Mussels served with frites, its Classic Beef burger and the vegetarian option, a Falafel burger served with hummus and sweet chilli.

Writing about her incognito visit, she commented: “You need to stave off your hunger until noon to eat here and it’s well worth the wait. Set in a converted chapel, the surroundings are quirky and the food good.”

Brett Holmes, a director of the One Eyed Cat, said he knew nothing about the printed accolade until he was alerted to the feature by one of the restaurant’s customers.

“We are absolutely delighted that we were rated seventh in the UK,” he said. “But I must admit it came as a complete surprise when the customer first told me they had seen us in the Times Weekend section.”
