Two Cornwall Council-led European Social Fund (ESF) Convergence investments have been presented with top national awards.
Cornwall Works for Learning Disabilities (CWLD) and Clear About Carbon came out top at the the ESF Equal Opportunities and Sustainable Development Mainstreaming Leader National Awards 2011.
The awards, launched last year, give high-profile recognition to ESF providers and sub-contractors who go the extra mile in promoting equal opportunities and sustainable development, and aim to showcase the winners’ good practice across the UK.
Carleen Kelemen, director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: “The awards have underlined the quality of the Convergence investments in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and the personal commitment from those who worked so hard to make these schemes a success. Congratulations to all involved.”
CWLD won the ESF Equal Opportunities Specialist Project Leader Award and Clear About Carbon was a joint winner of the 2011 ESF Sustainable Development Specialist Project Leader Awards.
CWLD helped people identify a route into employment based on their individual skills and aspirations, and received almost £1.5million of ESF Convergence, co-financed by Jobcentre Plus / DWP.
Clear About Carbon is focusing on new ways to increase commercial opportunities that are linked to carbon reduction within businesses and the public sector.
