St Austell Brewery’s Cornish pubs – and beer – have been named as among the best in the UK after scooping four places on the shortlist for the Publican Awards 2011.

The Publican Awards have been celebrating the best in the business for two decades and the winners will be announced at a glittering award ceremony in London on April 6.

One of the biggest nominations for the Brewery is reaching the UK’s final four in the Regional Brewer of the Year title, which is awarded in recognition for excellence in brewing beer, running pubs, marketing and corporate social responsibility. St Austell Brewery won the accolade for the first time in 2009 and is hoping to repeat the victory this year.

Three pubs in the St Austell Brewery estate have also been shortlisted – the Rashleigh Arms in Charlestown; the Kings Arms in St Just and the Fountain Inn in Mevagissey.

Last year the Rashleigh Arms was named Managed House of the Year, and this year it is in the running for the Accommodation Pub of the Year. It comes as Charlestown is listed in the Sunday Times Top 100 world summer holiday destinations.
