St Agnes freehouse the Driftwood Spars has been named CAMRA Kernow Pub of the Year for the second year running.

The Driftwood was hailed Cornwall’s best hostelry in 2010 for the quality of its beer, its atmosphere and its work to promote real ale on a wider scale.

In particular, the pub and its team were commended for their work encouraging more women to enjoy real ale.

Landlady Louise Treseder said: “This is in recognition of our dedication to the quality of our product, the great beer we brew on site and our wider promotion of real ale.”

Gerry Wills, deputy chairman for CAMRA Kernow and brewery liaison office for the Driftwood Spars, added: “This is award is richly deserved. Louise goes out of her way to ensure her product is the best it can be, and she strives to improve her offering all the time.
