Staff at the specialist payroll service at south west accountancy firm Bishop Fleming are celebrating after achieving the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 accreditation.
The payroll service, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, transacts more than £14 million every month for around 350 owner-managed businesses. It has also achieved full BACS accreditation, enabling it to make salary payments directly to client’s employee bank accounts.
Now the service, which employs 10 staff, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 standard following a rigorous inspection period.
The head of Bishop Fleming’s payroll service, Steve Dennis, who was recruited to launch the operation in 1983, said: “When we started we had 12 clients, the largest of which employed just 30 people. Today, we have more than 350 clients, some of whom employ 800-900 people.
“We are constantly investing in our practices and processes, with an emphasis on quality and improvement, and I am delighted to say this has been recognised by the inspectors.”
