Newquay’s position as one of Cornwall’s most popular destinations for camping holidays has been further strengthened with the news that ten of the town’s holiday parks are in the running for a prestigious ‘Top 100 Sites Award’ by Practical Caravan for 2010.

The annual awards, run by the UK’s most popular touring magazine, are voted for by visitors up until the end of November. Previous years have seen numerous Newquay parks as finalists, regional, and national winners.

This year 54 Cornish parks have made it onto the 2010 shortlist and the high number of Newquay Parks nominated demonstrate the successful summer that the town’s holiday parks have experienced.

Tourism Newquay’s Business Development Manager Richard Wilcox said: “Earlier this summer it was announced that Newquay boasts a third of the top graded holiday parks and campsites in the south west so the news that ten of the town’s holiday parks are now in the running an important consumer nominated award really shows how Newquay’s accommodation offer has improved greatly over the past few years and clearly impressed many visitors.

“Caravan and camping holidays are experiencing somewhat of a renaissance at the moment as more families try it out as a cost effective way to enjoy a fun packed holiday.  It’s great that Newquay can offer such a high standard of Park, both in terms of the accommodation and the facilities they offer.”

Currently in the running for a Top 100 Sites Award are Hendra Holiday Park, Monkey Tree Holiday Park, Newperran Holiday Park, Porth Beach Tourist Park, Sun Haven Valley Country Park, Treloy Holiday Park, Trethiggey Holiday Park, Trevella Holiday Park, Trevornick Holiday Park, and Whiteacres Holiday Park.
