Lucy Langdon, a trainee at Hodgsons Chartered Accountants and a student with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), is one of only five internationally to be awarded a scholarship this year.

Langdon, who won the scholarship based on her essay ‘How the award of a Scholarship will help me to realise my full potential’, said: “Once I have managed to succeed in my studies, I am looking forward to working closely with local small businesses to help them progress and develop.”

Partner of Hodgsons, James Hodgson, said: ‘All of the staff at Hodgsons are thrilled with Lucy’s fantastic achievement. As a company, we are keen to support everyone with as much training as possible to help them to succeed in their chosen areas of expertise. I am sure Lucy will be of great assistance to Cornish businesses when she qualifies.”

The other winners of this year’s international scholarship are from China, Kenya, and Pakistan.

Wyn Mears, Director at ACCA UK, said: “Lucy, like the other Scholarship winners, is an exceptional student. In many cases the winners have not only had to overcome obstacles in their lives, but they are also striving to help others achieve their aims and are determined to give something back to their communities, just as ACCA members all over the world support their local businesses and aid their development. The five students chosen are truly inspirational and we know they will make very good use of the Scholarship.”

Hodgsons have offices based in Launceston and Falmouth and have recently appointed three new trainees to start in September.
